Questions about the (more:trees) platform

(more:trees) is a platform that enables you to plant trees for yourself, your business and others, from as little as £1.

From the platform you can:

  • Access dashboard of your tree planting and carbon offsetting stats
  • Plant trees for yourself or your business
  • Plant trees for others, and customise the message they receive
  • Plant trees in bulk (via CSV)
  • Access the API to plant trees automatically
  • Create a website widget and virtual forest URL

You can pre-load your (more:trees) account with credits to make tree planting even easier.

Credit your account via bank transfer or debit/credit card, and use the credits to plant trees in the future.

You can automatically plant trees using:

  • Our API
  • Our Zapier integration
  • Our IFTTT integration

For example, you can automatically plant a tree for every:

  • Order over £10
  • Paid invoice
  • New customer

You can automate carbon offsetting through one of our monthly or annual subscriptions

If you need help with automating, get in touch.

The platform defaults to the most needed tree in the most needed project – but you can select the specific project you want to supply by clicking on the project.

If you have an idea for the platform let us know. We’re constantly updating the features and welcome all feedback.

Questions about pricing

You can also pay as you plant if you prefer.

We want to make carbon offsetting affordable, which is why we offer tree planting from £1.

There might be projects available with more expensive tree options, but the choice is yours.

(more:trees) is free to join, with no minimum commitment or monthly subscription (unless you want to subscribe monthly, that is).

It’s free to become a project on (more:trees).

Questions about tree planting

We work with tree planting partners to plant the trees you buy.

They have the skills, expertise, and resources to plant trees in the best manner possible while making a positive impact in the local area.

Extensively. We heavily research every partner we work with to ensure:

  1. They are planting the trees and have reliable methods for accounting for seeds, saplings and trees planted.
  2. They’re planting trees in a way to maximise survival rates (e.g. only planting indigenous tree species and planting in the right seasons).
  3. They’re making a positive impact in the local community (e.g. educating locals, planting agroforestry trees, supporting different projects).

We only partner with the projects you’d be happy to support.

Our trees are planted in forests across the world, by local farmers and villagers. We change the projects throughout the year, depending on who we’re working with the and current need.

You can use the platform to select a specific project.

Not yet! We’re working really hard to secure a UK tree planting project, at a price per tree that you would be willing to pay.

If you think you can help, get in touch!

Our tree planting partner has a tree survival rate of 80%. The remaining 20% consists of natural regeneration that happens in a forest.

We work with our tree planting partners to plant trees as quickly as the planting seasons allow, to give the maximum chances of survival.

This is usually done within three months but certain projects and tree types can take longer – but it will happen.

Projects on the platform specify whether they fall under a certain carbon credit certification scheme.

As these schemes are currently voluntary, we aim to have a variety of tree planting projects to suit different needs, budgets and requirements.

Verification is an expensive process and some projects (especially those aiming to help with poverty alleviation) cannot afford Gold Standard etc. verification.

In these instances, we ensure they have alternative third party certification or auditing (such as SGS Forest Management certification) and conduct our own vetting to ensure the trees are planted according to industry standards.

If you can’t find the project you’re looking for, get in touch and we’ll see how we can help.

Questions about carbon sequestration and offsetting

The amount of carbon absorbed by a tree depends on the tree type, location and life.

Our tree planting partner plants mangroves – one of the most effective and economic methods of offsetting carbon emissions.

Each mangrove tree removes approximately 0.3 tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere over its growth life – approximately 25 years. That equates to an estimated 0.012 tonners per year.

The amount of carbon you choose to offset is up to you.

Our carbon footprint calculator might help or we can recommend eco consultants to help with more complex calculations.

It’s a good question and one that we’re often asked.

Trees absorb CO2 from the atmosphere and store it. This is known as carbon sequestration. This happens over the span of a tree’s lifetime, typically peaking at around the 10-20 year mark.

Since newly planted trees haven’t removed any CO2 from the atmosphere yet, they can’t technically be described as an offset. Instead, the term offset is reserved for projects where the carbon avoidance or capture has already taken place.

Newly planted trees are crucial in the fight against climate change, even if they don’t come with the term offset. However, if you require a carbon offset, we can provide that alongside or instead of tree planting. Just get in touch

Questions about us

Yes – if you plant trees with (more:trees) we can give you access to our partner resources and logos.

(more:trees) is not a charity. Our goal is to help people and businesses plant one billion trees as quickly as possible (the planet isn’t waiting!) and we felt that becoming a charity would limit the speed we could achieve this.

If you want to support a tree planting charity specifically, you can donate to the great work by the Woodland Trust.

Pricing

Joining (more:trees)is free –  there is no sign-up or admin fee.

We offer monthly tree planting subscriptions on the platform, which you can use for yourself or others (e.g. as a gift or for employees).

Currently there’s no a minimum spend required.
